The Action

The Misfit is Defiance Machine's entry into the sub-$1,200 custom action market — a platform that doesn't cut corners on the specs that matter most. The receiver is pre-hardened 416 stainless steel, the bolt is 4340 chrome moly, and headspace is held to ±.001" just like the flagship models.

Where it differs is in its simplified geometry and aluminum scope rail, which keep the price accessible without sacrificing accuracy. It accepts the same Remington 700 footprint triggers, stocks, and barrels as the higher-end Defiance models, making it a smart foundation for a build that's going to see heavy use.

Available in Short Action and Long Action Magnum. Medium Magnum is not offered on the Misfit platform. BDL or AICS/AW feed. Right or left bolt.

The Barrel

The barrel is a Proof Research match-grade steel — made in Columbia Falls, Montana on the same production line as their carbon-wrapped lineup, held to the same bore tolerances. Hand-lapped, button-rifled, and inspected before it leaves the building. Proof's steel barrels are what competitive shooters reach for when they need a barrel that stays accurate through high round counts. Carbon saves weight; steel takes the abuse.

Every barrel is cut to 26" and chambered to your caliber selection, then headspaced to the action before it ships. Twist rates vary by caliber — listed in the spec table. Thread is 5/8-24.
